Welcome to Nebraska Trail Towns
Nebraska Trail Towns program works with rural communities along trails to leverage their unique heritage and features as community and economic development drivers. We help communities embrace their trail as an asset to rejuvenate positive green spaces for their town, create healthy opportunities for local citizens and to build thriving businesses that invite trail tourism. We need training from experts who have successfully developed Trail Towns and resources for networking between communities. Trail Town funds can pay for meetings, training and startup expenses. The program can provide matching dollars to enable a small town to secure grants for improvements, that build local programs and recruit business. - More news coming, we are just getting started!
Because Nebraska is so big, currently we have two general funding targets;
- The Southeast Nebraska Trail Town fund targets the small towns from the Missouri River west to Columbus, with focus on the trails along the Great American Rail Trail, towns outside the metro areas
- The Northwest Nebraska Trail Town fund targets towns on the west sid of the state, with focus along the Cowboy Trail to the western border
